Earth Friendly Wood Stains
SoyStain for Timber is an Earth friendly stain that you can use on decks, wood flooring and cabinets. It comes in 12 different colors and can be applied in many convenient ways. The most common method of application is spraying, however a simple foam applicator will also work. Due to it's eco-friendly properties, clean up is a snap with soap and water. All of our products are VOC compliant in all 50 states. Available in 5 Gallon, 1 Gallon, and Sample Sizes.
Where to use:
Use on all timber products including, hardwood floors, decks, cabinetry, furniture, wood beams, fences, log cabins and all other wood structures.
Coverage:
A gallon covers approximately 400-600 square feet depending on type of timber and the method of application used.
Preparation of surface:
Surface must be clean, dry and free of dust, grease and all debris.
Application Method:
May be applied by HVLP sprayer, wipe cloth or an Orec orbital buffer with a scotch brite pad/maintenance pad. This is probably the preferred method as it makes spreading the satin evenly much easier and also helps by burnishing it into the pores and grain of the timber therefore reducing drying time.
Drying time:
Typically SoyTuf Timber Stain will be dry to the touch in 30 minutes to an hour and will be dry enough for topcoat in 4-6 hours. At this time it must be dry and tack free. Surface will be ready for light foot traffic after about 12 hours. 24 hours for normal foot traffic. 5-7 days for full cure.
Sealing:
Finished project must be sealed when complete to protect against moisture penetration. Make sure all topical stain residues have been removed and that stain is completely dry prior to sealing. We recommend using our penetrating sealers for greater results.
Product Performance:
The natural plant oils in SoyTuf Timber Stain have the ability to replenish and preserve timber surfaces by penetrating into the growth rings and continue to offer protection all year round. This natural solvent process penetrates deep into the timber surface replicating the function of sap for long-term preservation and protection against nature’s elements, UV, abrasion and wear and tear.
Safety Precautions:
Read MSDS Sheets for all safety information prior to use. Although SoyTuf products are made without hazardous chemicals, it is always best to use protective gear such as safety glasses, latex gloves and dust mask when coming in direct contact with product, as they can cause eye, skin and health hazards.
Caution:
Keep container closed when not in use. When using chemicals of any kind, do not take internally. Always use with adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Keep away from children. Cover or dispose of buckets properly to prevent drowning.
